Long time no see, guys.
Yeah, y'all know what's going on. If you don't, well, either "Welcome to DA, I don't know how to use this thing either!" or "Holy crap, you're still alive?! Where were you?!"
Starting May 20th, Deviantart will be getting rid of its current interface and permanently adopting Eclipse. I'm sure the devs have worked hard on it, but, I won't sugarcoat it, it's bad. It's difficult to navigate, feeds are jumbled into a single mass instead of categorized like they are now, and it's overall very user hostile. Yeah, sites need to be updated, but they really should have taken the system that worked and built on it instead of throwing out the baby with the bathwater. I don't know about you guys, but I
really can't figure out how to use that thing.
But we aren't here to talk about that! (Well, we kinda are, but whatever). Before May 20th comes along, I will be leaving DA. My account will still be here in case the impossible happens and they relent or give Eclipse a much-needed overhaul, but I'll largely be abandoning it as far as new works goes.
So, I'm writing this journal as a form of forwarding address.
First of all, I've relented to the internet culture and made a twitter. It's not
the most ideal (the number of things I gotta click on mobile just to get to my profile @_@) but it offers some nice new advantages. Mainly, since twitter is more cooperative with my phone's large file size on the camera that DA, I'll now be posting drawings! Granted, they aren't...
good, but I'm excited to try this new opportunity to expand my... art, I guess I can try to call it?
As for my writing, I'm still working that out, and will update this journal if I can by May 20th. I'm currently looking into Wattpad and Google Docs with Twitter, since those seem to offer the closest services to DA - mainly being able to post a mix of original works and fanfic and incorporate pictures into them (from friends, not me). Once I get that figured out, I'll update and let you guys know where to find me.
TL;DR, for the time being, you'll be able to find me and my work here:
twitter.com/WiseKarasuAu revoir! It's been a heck of a ride, and I hope you'll join me as I jump to another metaphorical bus.
